Fenn's Crime Scene Analysis
Fenn returns to close down the site of his earlier gunfight, examining the attacker’s body:
- Description: Caucasian male with white hair, sides shaved, and a scarf used as a face cover.
- Gear: Well-concealed bullet- and stab-proof vest, standard for assault squads; collapsible endo-rifle, and a discreet pop-out blade hidden in a lighter.
- Evidence: A delicate square photo of Fenn’s face, hinting at a professional hitman's level of resources and expertise.
Baseline Test Success
Returning to LAPD, Fenn successfully passes his Baseline test this time.
Willa's Confrontation with Jelle Schylar
Willa tracks Jelle Schylar back to the Snake Pit, now identified as a regular there:
- Appearance: A middle-aged man with a 5 o'clock shadow, wearing wide glasses and a perpetually displeased expression.
- Conversation: Jelle disparages replicants, calling them "skinjobs" and blaming them for taking human jobs. He admits to throwing a bottle and recounts seeing Styles (the albino) intervene, only for Leah to fire a gun. Jelle confirms it was Leah who shot Sandor.
As Willa leaves, Jelle shouts, “Follow the albino,” pointing her toward Styles.
Fenn’s Recurrent Memory
Fenn dreams of a past encounter with a stranger at a high-rise penthouse overlooking the Fashion District. Fenn, designed to be visually captivating, found himself transfixed by this individual’s gaze - a rare moment of feeling genuinely seen, not as an object but as a person. The stranger's empathetic gaze cut through Fenn’s exterior, marking a rare and profound emotional connection.
Unexpected Visitors
Awakened by a knock at his door, Fenn readies his weapon and cautiously investigates, but the man outside vanishes before he opens it. Fenn jumps to his balcony and chases the figure into the crowd:
- Encounter: Fenn catches up to Styles, the albino, who insists they only want to talk.
- Back-up: Two others arrive, a man with a shotgun and a woman in a long dress and puffer coat. Fenn manages to diffuse the tension, and Styles introduces himself amicably.
Willa’s Visit to the Lilith Memory Lab
Willa travels to Lilith Memory Lab in Sector 4, a small, isolated facility amidst defunct factories. She presents her LAPD credentials and is led to the Central Memory Lab:
- Lab Interior: Dark, save for the moving images of children and their families. A woman in a white lab coat, controlling the images, explains that these are memories implanted in N9 models.
- Lilith Tyrell: The face behind the N9 memories, revealing that Leah’s memories were modeled after Lilith's own family life.
- Sarah: As Willa leaves, she notices a young girl, Sarah, Lilith’s daughter, peeking from around a corner.
Fenn's Agreement with Styles
In an alleyway, Styles cryptically tells Fenn that everything will make sense if he complies. Trusting his instincts, Fenn hands over his gun, and Styles leads him to a waiting van, where more answers await.
