Case Notes 1

Into The Snake Pit

Case Log: May 2037

Investigation at the Snake Pit

Initial Incident: Gunfire reported at the Snake Pit nightclub. The primary suspects are violent anti-replicant extremists.

Key Personnel

  • LH3-7.93 ("Leah") and SN9-1.48 ("Sandor"), two Nexus-9 Blade Runners.
  • Quell – PR liaison for Wallace Corp, briefing agents and updating our KIA devices to download LAPD data.

Areas of Interest within LAPD

  • RIT Crime Lab
  • Mainframe – post-blackout record searching
  • Esperwall – citywide surveillance terminal

Fenn's Visit to the Morgue

Fenn visits Sandor’s body, due to their history together Fenn recognised him as a ‘brother’ figure. Sandor lies wrapped in tight plastic, revealing a high-calibre gunshot wound at point-blank range, likely fatal on impact. Fenn discreetly retrieves Sandor’s necklace as a personal memento.

Encounter at the Snake Pit

Individuals Involved

  • Taffey Lewis: Snake Pit owner, claims no affiliation with anti-replicant groups.
  • Jelle Schylar: Editor of KILL Magazine, known anti-replicant agitator, allegedly present at the Snake Pit.
  • Iris: Nexus-9 model and performer with a snake act; her arm was sliced by a thrown glass amid the chaos. She identifies Schylar as aggressive toward her, believing he intended harm.
  • Styles: A peculiar, pale figure known for keeping the dancers safe. He was present during the brawl, which involved Jelle Schylar and escalated into gunfire. He confirms Leah was inquiring about “Undercover Replicants.”

Wallace Corporation’s Involvement

Quell, Wallace Corp's representative, insists both Willa and Fenn meet at HQ. Wallace Corp is heavily invested in resolving the incident, seemingly eager to absolve themselves of blame.

Willa obliges, heading to Wallace HQ, where she’s greeted by a bald, uniformed man in the eerie, gilded halls illuminated by dim yellow light.

Fenn dismisses the request, opting instead to investigate Leah’s last known location.

Fenn’s Search at Leah’s Apartment

Fenn fends off anti-replicant extremists at the apartment, hearing them shout, “A new Dawn is coming!” Inside, the apartment offers several clues:

  • Photograph: Beside the bed, an image of a dark-haired child, with “Doc Badger” stamped on the back - a pawn shop owner in Sector 5.
  • William Blake’s Poetry: An open book, with a torn page from The Tyger, the excerpt hinting at inner turmoil.
  • Butterfly Jar: A jar of artificial butterflies, delicate and mesmerising, bearing a unique pattern only manufactured by “The Aurelian.”
  • Kitchen Clues: Empty vodka bottles scattered around, suggesting Leah’s recent struggle.

Before Fenn can continue investigating, they are summoned for a Baseline test, after failing to attend the Wallace meeting.
