Back at the base, the whole crew is busted up and needs patching after the previous fix.
Rollcage pressures Miyagi into trying surgery on his broken ribs to avoid the hospital, but Miyagi cannot set them right and the attempt fails.
Rollcage caves and heads to a hospital anyway, with Miyagi going along to mend his own injuries.
The crew take the night to properly rest and let the adrenaline drain out.
Next day, Miyagi takes Frost into the converted storeroom that now serves as his ad-hoc surgery space.
Carpets and rugs soften the floor, incense burns in the corners, and an Arasaka Bible sits on a side table. The vibe is half reiki, half back-alley trauma care, and it works.
Miyagi successfully sets Frost's broken arm, and sends her on her way.
Over the next few days, Rollcage cleans and tunes his car.
Miyagi watches surgery "How To" vids, constantly interrupted by ads in foreign languages because he's using free trial versions.
Neon digs into the Dog Toof lead. Local knowledge gets them nowhere, but web searches and library archives confirm Dog Toof is the leader of The Dogs gang, operating out of an abandoned church somewhere in Night City, and deep in the drug trade. She cannot find a clear reason the Tyger Claws and The Dogs would cooperate.
A parcel arrives from DangerMaus with a Get Well Soon card and a dose of Speed Heal specifically for Neon.
Miyagi goes shopping for spices, fish, rice, and vegetables, looking to try out some cooking and surprise the crew.
Frost keeps writing songs for her band Frenzy: pop influence with revolutionary lyrics.
Rollcage mounts an automatic rifle to the front of the car. Two of his Nomad friends, Vinny and Maurice, drop by with parts, and Miyagi invites them to stay for dinner.
Miyagi cooks a big family meal: a hearty fish-and-rice dish, paella-adjacent, filling enough to bring the crew closer together.
Stories start flowing, and the crew learn more about each other.
Frost admits she is in Frenzy, and Miyagi recognises the band and their track Rage Against the Corpos. He also finally connects the dots: Alexis Carter, Frenzy's drummer, has been seen at the base before, and that's why they looked familiar.
Rollcage talks about his underground racing history. Miyagi shows genuine interest and asks for lessons.
Neon shares that her parents went missing and she hates Biotechnica. Miyagi offers sympathy.
Miyagi shares his history with The Dogs: years as DangerMaus' chemist, rumours that he can heal anything, and the day Dog Toof arrived with a kid that Miyagi could not save.
After that, his clinic burned down and his life partner Tony was kidnapped, and Miyagi talks about the whole situation calmly and without anger, "A violent environment makes violent people".
Miyagi adds one more heartbreaking revelation: his elegant pistol that he carries by his side was carved by Tony.
Rollcage gets a message from his close friend Lena: an upcoming underground race, first prize includes a car, mods, and creds. However there is a rule tweak: each racer needs a passenger in the car for the run.
Frost gets a band message: Frenzy has been invited to open for Destiny.
Neon confirms the shard from the Tyger Claws vault is too corrupt to restore alone, but they have a hacktivist contact who can help: Galen Zephyr.
Rollcage gives Miyagi a practical lesson in the car and demonstrates a donut. Miyagi attempts one, spins out, and slams into a dumpster. Some damage but fairly minor, and Rollcage isn't too bothered, already talking repairs.
DangerMaus drops by and explains his recent distance and silence: he has been trying to line up extra contacts and services for the crew.
Miyagi and Frost walk the local area while Rollcage stays back to fix the car, and Neon seeks therapy to boost their humanity.
On the street they see a delivery van riddled with bullet holes and fitted with a turret, a young lad perched up top like it is normal. A postal worker in kevlar with hair styled into cat ears trades gossip and points them to a nearby spectacle: a safe in the middle of the road with a crowd trying to crack it.
En route, Miyagi shares more history: born in Colombia, moved with his parents, once lived in a corpo zone, once had serious money, and previously invested in rebuilding the central zone and setting up a hospital. He explains his mother was a corporate CEO, brought to Night City after their business was bought out, focused on civilian recovery: meds, housing, infrastructure.
Frost stops at a ripperdoc and comes out with a bright orange afro.
Miyagi and Frost reach the scene: a clear Militech safe full of guns and cash, bolted into the tarmac, drones circling, and the crowd roaring every time someone gets shot at when trying to approach it.
Two gangs are posturing: the Albino Alligators in white shirts and red shorts, and the Piranhas in blue tank tops, plus civilians caught in the madness.
An elderly man offers an alliance: he can open it, but needs protection, and he is hauling a huge dangerous cryotank on his back.
They refuse, arguing the money should be spread around, not claimed. Frost tries to rally civilians into unity and sharing, and only convinces a handful. Miyagi pulls up a balaclava to avoid being seen on camera.
The gangs surge the safe at the same time, firing on each other, and the safe starts getting scratched and chipped under stray rounds.
Miyagi runs into the firefight to help a wounded Piranha, tears off a sleeve as a white rag, waves it high, and yells "MEDIC" as bullets fly by. He stabilises the wounded man and drags him out of the chaos.
The Piranhas decide it is not worth dying for and start fleeing, while the Alligators keep firing anyway.
Frost charges in and fires back to cover Miyagi.
Miyagi swaps to rubber rounds and drops an Alligator, and Frost finishes him with two shots.
The Alligators start to back away from the fight and disappear down nearby alleyways.
The street calms for a breath, and Miyagi and Frost take the spot by the safe.
They block the elderly man from pushing in first, and Miyagi fails a careful crack attempt because the crowd noise drowns everything. He promises the crowd a return if they stay, trying to keep the civilians close so that they can spread the spoils.
Miyagi then switches tactics, and fires an armour-piercing round at the hinges, and Frost joins in to chew through the metal.
More Alligators return with backup, and the street erupts again.
Frost tries to negotiate with the gang for a cut of the cash, but nobody is listening. Miyagi locks in, shuts the world out, and cracks the safe properly.
Frost scoops what she can and throws fistfuls of cash into the crowd, yelling "Fuck the corpos, Frenzy forever!" Miyagi grabs the rest, including the guns, and spreads more cash in multiple directions to disperse the wealth.
They run before the Alligators can enclose on them, and Miyagi talks about investing his cut into rebuilding his clinic.
Back at HQ, Neon hears from Galen Zephyr and sets a meeting at the Afterlife.
Neon is a regular; the bouncers recognise them, and Neon orders a Morgan Blackhand.
Galen waits in a dark blazer, closing a laptop and admitting they were emailing their mother about money problems.
Neon asks about The Dogs, but he typically avoids gang culture and has little to offer.
Neon hands over the corrupted shard. Galen agrees to restore it in two weeks for a fee, she accepts, and they part ways.
Lena updates Rollcage: the race is in a couple of days, and she needs a guarantee. A driver called Red Rod must not finish the race, however possible, because she has a bet riding on it.
Rollcage recruits Neon as passenger after seeing their crossbow work on a previous job. She happily accepts and preps incendiary bolts.
Rollcage paints the car an iconic purple and orange, ready for race day.
Weekend night. Engines snarl. Neon lights glare off chrome. The air tastes like fuel and violence.
Miyagi and Frost are in the crowd, watching, while Rollcage and Neon sit strapped in, ready to make sure Red Rod doesn't make it to the end.
Seven cars line up, left to right: Silver Arrow, Red Rod, Neon Rollcage, Dragstrip, Moonie, Roadkill, and Nitro Doorslammer.
It's a running start. No countdown. They hit the line already at speed and the whole pack speeds forward.
Silver Arrow launches into the lead.
Neon Rollcage punches up immediately, Rollcage cuts in front of Red Rod, and Neon fires an incendiary bolt back, but it splashes uselessly off their windscreen.
Dragstrip surges into the front group while their passenger blasts Moonie's front wheel, slowing the yellow beast.
Red Rod tries a pit manoeuvre on Neon Rollcage, almost spins them out, but Rollcage rides the slide and keeps it straight.
Roadkill hits NOS and rockets ahead.
Silver Arrow stays aggressive, and their passenger cracks Neon Rollcage's windscreen with a shot.
Neon fires again and threads the bolt into Red Rod's front grill, igniting inside the hood.
Red Rod stays behind, burning, while Neon Rollcage climbs a position and keeps hunting.
Nitro Doorslammer swings up and pits Roadkill, forcing a wobble in the pack.
Rollcage opens up with the mounted automatic rifle on Silver Arrow ahead, shredding the open-wheel racer until it flips and explodes.
Rollcage cannot dodge the wreck in time.
Neon Rollcage slams into the debris at speed, keeps moving, but the car screams under the damage and starts bleeding momentum.
Behind them, Roadkill loses control and spins out after pressure from Nitro Doorslammer.
Red Rod, fully engulfed, finally spins off and crushes into a lightpost, out of the race and Rollcage's promise is kept.
Dragstrip stays in the lead fight.
Moonie hits NOS to stay alive and refuses to fall away.
Neon Rollcage claws back into contention after the collision, and Neon lands a bolt into Dragstrip's rear axle, ripping stability away.
Neon follows up with another clean shot that knocks a wheel off, and Dragstrip flips, cartwheeling out of the race.
Nitro Doorslammer takes too much punishment and spins out.
Moonie dodges the wreckage of the cars infront, and suddenly it is down to two: Moonie and Neon Rollcage.
Neon sights the gas tank.
One bolt. One sweet spot. The rear of Moonie explodes, the car flips, and the street becomes fire and scrap.
Rollcage keeps it pinned to the finish.
At the last moment, in pure style, he activates the NOS, and Neon Rollcage crosses the line as the only car left moving.
Neon Rollcage wins and, as the only remaining racer, claims the prizes for first, second, and third.
They roll back to the crew HQ as victors, and Rollcage gifts Neon one of the prizes, a motorbike, as a thank you.
