Session 4

Arcanus Veritas

Overview

The group has returned from their perilous journey, with each member processing their experiences and planning their next steps. New challenges and mysteries arise, including a dangerous encounter with a mysterious figure and the discovery of an ancient scroll.

Key Events and Developments

Character Updates

The players have joined an organisation called Arcanus Veritas ("The Secret Truth"), presumably to better understand the supernatural forces they've faced.

  • Ellen:
    • Her father is revealed to be a military man.
    • Her husband has remarried to a woman named Nellie.
    • Now wears a dampener attached to her bracelet, possibly to suppress or control supernatural influences.
  • Imelda (Dr. O'Connor):
    • Has decided to continue her doctorate, now specialising in Accident and Emergency (A&E) medicine.
    • Battles an addiction to smoking but remains an integral part of the group.
  • Jacob:
    • Undergoing psychotherapy with Dr. Bradley (she/her), who is trying to unravel the depths of his insanity after the traumatic events he's endured.

The Ancient Scroll

Discovery: Jacob hears of a banned book from the Old Testament, said to be kept in an ancient library in the Israeli desert. He travels to Israel alongside Jackson Elias, where they find the scroll encased in a unique wooden and metal structure.

Encounter with the Mysterious Man:

  • While in possession of the scroll, Jacob is confronted by a middle-aged man dressed in a black suit, wielding a silver-topped black cane.
  • He demands the scroll, holding out his hand for its return.
  • A violent confrontation ensues:
    • The man appears spectral, impervious to bullets due to a barrier that explodes on impact.
    • A bladed figure with a flaming sword materialises, repeating the phrase "Quallit-ur".
    • During the scuffle, Jacob sustains a scar on his right thigh.
  • Object Gained: They manage to retain possession of the Mysterious Scroll, referred to as The Book of Quallit-ur. Its contents and significance remain unclear.

Unfolding Mysteries

Ellen gains a hidden goal unknown to the other players, presumably tied to her connection with the Arcanus Veritas or the events surrounding the scroll.
